The biggest retailer in America, Walmart has announced that it will remain open until 8pm on Christmas Eve. The Bentonville, Ark.- based organization reported the change in timing in the light of the recently released estimation that over 80% of Americans haven’t finished their holiday shopping yet.
In an official statement, Walmart stated that more shoppers were interested in the Star Wars related products. Walmart has stocked a wide assortment of Star Wars stock and other top holiday gifts in their stores and online. One of the biggest frustrations for the last minute customers is the out of stock signs in supermarkets. Steve Breen, senior vice president of merchandising for Walmart.com, said in a statement that the company doesn’t want to disappoint these shoppers and hence arranged adequate stocks in advance.
This is the most recent in a progression of moves by Walmart to overcome the supermarket competition during the Christmas shopping season. The retailer began its Black Friday bargains early, and it marked down items sold online for more periods than in past years. Walmart is likewise offering free delivery on all requests throughout the last Friday before Christmas. It otherwise requires a base $50 buy to be eligible for free shipping.
