Walmart realigned its India operations to Emerging markets (EM) portfolio



US retailer Walmart realigned its India operations to Emerging markets (EM) portfolio. This means that India would not be a part of its Asia region any more. The retailer has also announced that Enrique Ostal would take charge as the Executive vice-president and CEO of its operations in Latin America, India and Africa. This would be an added responsibility to Enrique Ostal, who serves as president and CEO of Walmart Mexico, Central America and LATAM (Latin America).

Walmart International president and CEO David Cheesewright said in a statement:” Enrique’s experience is perfectly suited for aligning our emerging markets with our core business strengths while serving our customers uniquely and in the most efficient ways.”

After the current realignment, the company announced that its India president and CEO, Krish Iyer would now report to Enrique Ostal.  Scott Price, president and CEO of Walmart Asia and chief administrative office of Walmart International, according the retailer will head their operations in Japan and China.
