Walmart creates supply chain academy

Walmart has announced the opening of its first Supply Chain Academy, created specifically to train its dedicated supply chain team.

The new gym is headquartered at Walmart’s distribution centre in Sanger, Texas and is based on Walmart gyms that train store employees.

The new training centre will focus on helping the supply chain team to learn about leadership, security, supply chain fundamentals, and area-specific training.

Greg Smith, executive vice president of Walmart’s US supply chain, explained that “customers in north-central Texas will see the impact of these graduates’ training and hard work on the line-ups of over 140 Walmart and Sam’s Clubs stores served by this distribution centre “.

The retailer explained that it will expand the program to other distribution centres in the United States. Over the next two years, with each Supply Chain Academy serving about 15 distribution centres.
