Vimto Targets Southern African Markets at Africa’s Big Seven

UK-based Vimto International has announced its decision to exhibit at Africa’s biggest food and beverage expo, Africa’s Big Seven (AB7). The soft drinks producer is eager to develop its brand and product range across sub-Saharan African markets. “AB7 has proven itself as the perfect springboard into Africa for many companies exploring new business opportunities in the continent’s growing consumer markets,” says Jason Sankey, Vimto International’s Marketing Manager. AB7 takes place from 19 to 21 June at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand.

African Opportunities Abound

“The high number of business visitors across many different nationalities who attend AB7 provides the perfect platform to exhibit our brands and products to an international audience,” adds Sankey. “We are eager to explore and develop the potential for Vimto in fresh sub-Saharan markets and to build on opportunities for entering new markets.”

Vimto first entered the African market in 2002 by launching its products in Mozambique, Ivory Coast and Mali. The company further expanded its African footprint in 2010, launching products into Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Niger and Benin, and last year into Angola, Chad and Gabon.

“Like all of AB7’s over 260 exhibitors, Vimto will have access to an estimated 13 000 delegates from more than 70 countries, including 27 countries from Africa – based on last year’s figures,” says Christine Davidson, Vice-President of dmg EMS Africa, organiser of Africa’s Big Seven. “We are thrilled to have them on board with their extensive and exciting product portfolio.”

New Products for New Markets

Vimto International will exhibit its latest products at this year’s AB7. The company has been quenching the thirst of millions of people all over the world since 1908 and sells over 500 million litres of its products in 75 countries every year.

Vimto beverages are produced in a variety of formats such as still, sparkling and concentrate packaged in glass or PET bottles and cartons. “Our beverages feature delicious tastes of blackcurrants, grapes and raspberries, combined with a secret mix of herbs and spices,” reveals Sankey. “The fun-loving Vimto branding on our packaging ensures the product stands out on the shelf, which has made it a firm favourite with children and adults wherever it’s sold.”

Feel Good is the latest brand to join Vimto’s product portfolio and comprises a range of still and sparkling fruit drinks made from 100% natural ingredients and no added sugar. Flavour combinations include apple and blueberry, cranberry and lime, lemon and orange, and orange and pineapple. An exciting new range of Vimto flavoured frozen drinks will launch in 2016.

“AB7 is the largest food and drinks exhibition in Africa, with particular relevance to southern Africa, which is an area of particular focus for Vimto International in 2016 and in coming years,” concludes Sankey. “We want to expand our business into new African markets and AB7 is unquestionably the best platform to do this.”
