The latest Jack’s stores opened in Middlewich and Rubery today (Thursday 18 October), with customers queuing up to see what the new stores had to offer.
Following other successful launches, local community groups which are part of the ‘Jack’s Supports’ community funding scheme came along to help open the store.
As well as offering great products at low prices, Jack’s will also play a key part in the local community. ‘Jack’s Supports’ will give back by funding local projects using the money raised by the sale of carrier bags. Soon Jack’s will be inviting charity groups and good causes to apply to be part of the next round of the scheme.
Once applications are submitted they will be reviewed by Jack’s colleagues who will create a shortlist of four good causes for each store. Each of the four shortlisted good causes will receive a donation of £250. Voting then begins in store, with the winner receiving carrier bag proceeds from their local store for a three month period. Just like in Tesco, the new Jack’s stores will also take part in Tesco’s Community Food Connection scheme. Working with UK food redistribution charity FareShare, it will ensure any unsold food safe for human consumption is offered to local charities and community groups for free at the end of the day.
