Organic sales at E.Leclerc reached 930 million euros in 2018, an increase of 22%. What to consolidate its place in the top three of the French market, with Carrefour and Biocoop.

Carrefour claims a turnover of 1.2 billion euros on organic, growing by 20%. The Biocoop network had to finish the year with 1.2 to 1.3 billion euros of turnover.

“E.Leclerc still has some way to go to catch up with Biocoop”, stated Michel-Édouard Leclerc at the end of last year on social networks, which justifies “a multi-format strategy (hypermarkets and specialized supermarkets), multi-channel boosts bio products and home delivery) and multi-brand “

On December 19th, Leclerc inaugurated its second specialized store “The organic market” in Erstein (67). The first opened at Saintes (17) on 23 October.

The creation of this national concept is the result of numerous initiatives of members who set up their own organic sales point, and sign the will of the movement to take place on the market of specialized organic stores. Now many stores are trying to follow this movement which has became like a brand especially in the big cities.
