The Auchan Foundation: 29 projects supported at international level in one year

After extending its activities to all the countries of the group on 6 July 2011 (in the framework of the 50th anniversary of Groupe Auchan), the Auchan Youth Foundation began to provide support for its first projects around the world last November. One year …

From Spain to China and Taiwan, including Ukraine, Romania, Poland and Portugal, the Auchan Youth Foundation has enabled 29 local projects to get off the ground since November 2011, giving Auchan employees the opportunity to involve themselves in the welfare of young inhabitants.

Each project covers one of the five priorities chosen by the Foundation in the field of youth education:
– read, write, count and cultivate their minds;
– educate themselves;
– eat properly;
– look after their own health;
– look after their environment.

For example, in China, 50 employees of the Human Resources department were trained by the Fondation Albatross to become “Green Trainers” of Auchan employees who, in their turn, went out to train children in schools located near Auchan hypermarkets. The Auchan Youth Foundation financed the publication of educational booklets as well as the materials of the training programme.

The Auchan Youth Foundation was set up in France in 1996 and has already supported 412 projects to date (38 in 2012). The 29 initiatives given backing in the framework of the new international dimension are only the first steps in the enduring commitment of the Foundation around the hypermarkets in the 12 countries where the group operates.
