Usually the French stores have a specific opening periods during the day, most of them close during nights. Lately, chains of food stores orchestrate tests in the matter in heart of city. A breakthrough led by the Casino Group and other popular retailers.

Most recently, on December 6, the Saint-Etienne group decided to launch a test conducted on a classic point of sale of its Casino park, located in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon. This is the first supermarket in the chain open night and day -according to the local press-.

The group also introduced this fall a new format that is expected to better meet the expectations of consumers. “Le 4 Casino” was launched in October on 400 square meters near the Champs-Elysees in Paris. There is no classic cash register with a vendor installed, even during the day. According to the group, this is a “place of life and consumption where digital enriches and facilitates the daily life of customers”. Customers only need to scan the products to do their Check-out.

A similar initiative has been taken earlier by Auchan in an experimental format was called ” Rapid Auchan ” that opens 24/7.
