She was – at one point in her career – considered to be a possible chief executive officer of Tesco UK. Her next month exit comes as shock for many. She was chief client officer when Lewis arrived and in February this year was made head of transformation in one of the hardest years for the grocery giant.
Tesco endeavored to recoup for a droop in sales and profits, watched its FICO assessment hit deep low and has a Serious Fraud Office investigation over bookkeeping abnormalities hanging over its head. According to Tesco sources she was a close confidant CEO Phil Clarke, embracing similar working styles, as she became the customer officer. In any case, she was not given the top UK position, with Lewis selecting to acquire very much-preferred Halfords supervisor Matt Davies.
In her 15 years at Tesco she has been strategy director, clothing chief and joined the executive committee in 2012 as advancement officer.
