Tesco Express teams up with Liverpool college to tackle unemployment

The unique programme has offered candidates a career kick-start in the retail industry through a combination relevant training followed by part-time employment.
The ten members of staff were recruited by Tesco Express and were put on a six week training programme at the City of Liverpool College to give a better incite into retail, customer service and employment skills.
The programme was designed to help the students build their experience and provide them with the skills they need to progress further. Each student who took part in the programme received a City and Guilds qualification.
Colette McKenna, Head of Employability at the City of Liverpool College said: “This programme is a great example of how the College works directly with businesses in the local area to create a more desirable workforce. The programme was extremely well received by the students; everybody involved committed themselves 100 per cent to the training and will hopefully continue to progress further.
“The College will continue to develop successful programmes such as this in the future with key employers across the region in order to establish its position as the leading provider
