Tesco Adds Innovation and Excitement to its Butter Category

Tesco is launching a new range of 100g Flavoured Butter Logs, supplied by Irish manufacturer Mr Crumb. The range contains 4 flavours: 3 savoury “Garlic & Herb”, “Red Chilli” and “Three Peppercorn” and 1 sweet “Chocolate Chip & Maple Syrup”. These will be merchandised in the Dairy Section.

Tesco UK NPD Manager Emma Ahmed said “We are always exploring ways of adding innovation and excitement to the butter category and these versatile butter logs, produced for us by Irish manufacturer Mr Crumb, fill the bill perfectly. The butters have a huge range of uses and come in a convenient format of controlled portions. The range is a great staple for any cook’s kitchen fridge. I am particularly excited about the unique sweet option – chocolate chip and maple syrup butter. Perfect for simply spreading onto toast, pancakes, and melting over brioche or used as a sweet cheat’s ingredient for quick cookies or as a twist to bread and butter pudding”.

“We have included some recipes on the packaging, to help guide our consumers, and give them a few more ideas around possible usage”.

“The development of these products has been six months in the making, and all the products have gone through rigorous taste panels, and we are delighted to say that they have all received great feedback”.

The UK Butter Market is a mature category and we believe that these butters will add value in both value and volume, and we look forward to bringing more exciting and refreshing flavours to the market with our partner Mr Crumb in the future, including limited editions and seasonal varieties.

Mr. Crumb is a multi award winning food manufacturer with operations in both the UK and Ireland. Specialising in small batch, hand finished products and producing stuffing, breadcrumb, butter and frozen snacks such as filled panini & wraps, the company has recently being nominated for the 2015 / 2016 European Business Award and 2015 Ulster Bank Business Achievers Award.
