Albertsons is launching a competition for new specialty food, beverage, and pet brands.

Albertsons Companies announced today the launch of its inaugural Albertsons Cos. Innovation Launchpad competition, which is looking for small and independent firms representing developing food, beverage, and pet goods. Albertsons Cos. is hosting this competition to provide new, creative businesses the opportunity to enter and compete live at the Natural Products Expo West in California on March 8.

A team of judges will assess 60 candidates who will exhibit goods that reflect expanding consumer demand in areas such as low sugar or carbohydrate, all-natural, plant-based products, functional drinks, global tastes, healthy prepared meals, and luxury pet items. The top three winners will each get $170,000 in cash, services, and industry recognition.

The winning entries will be evaluated for distribution in Albertsons Cos. banner shops such as Albertsons, Safeway, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, ACME, Pavilions, Kings Food Markets, Balducci’s Food Lovers Market, and Market Street.
