Sobeys Capital Inc. has declared it has gone into an agreement to buy Pete Luckett’s supermarket retail and wholesale business, working as Pete’s Fine Foods. The agreement includes the stores in Bedford and Halifax, Nova Scotia, and one wholesale operation.
“Sobeys is a perfect match, genuinely an Atlantic Canadian example of overcoming adversity, based on the same entrepreneurial spirit as Pete’s,” Luckett said in an announcement. “It’s the perfect time for me to move from the supermarket industry into the winery business.
Sobeys, situated in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, plans to keep on working the stores under the Pete’s Fine Foods brand. Luckett will stay as a consultant contributing his ability while guaranteeing the respectability of the Pete’s Fine Foods brand.
“With this partnership, clients can appreciate the fact that the stores will keep on flourishing and extend while offering that same unprecedented shopping background. The “Frootique” legacy will live on and succeed,” Luckett included.
“Pete has ingrained a uniqueculture in his stores and a food offer that reverberates with his clients,” Peter Doucette, general manager, Sobeys Atlantic, said. “We would prefer not to change that. Truth be told, we need to assemble the Pete’s image and develop the open doors for the business in Atlantic Canada. With Sobeys’ assets and capacity to bolster development and extension in the locale, we can get that going.”
