Rewe and Naturland are pushing ahead with organic farming in Germany

Exactly ten years ago, Rewe began its strategic collaboration with Naturland to strengthen organic farming and make Bio available to a broader market. With success: over half of the Rewe organic products, including all Rewe organic meat products, today carry the Naturland seal. The round anniversary is now the occasion for a campaign to invite customers to take a peek behind the scenes of Rewe organic growers who operate to the rigorous Naturland standards.

from 2009 to today, the number of Naturland producers and their organically farmed area has doubled in Germany alone. Currently, nearly 4,000 businesses in Germany farm more than 207,000 hectares according to the strict Naturland guidelines. More than half of the Naturland members now sell some of their products via REWE.

“In the meantime, many people in the food retail sector are discovering organic food. But what is new to others today has long been committed to REWE,” says Michael Stienen, Managing Director of Naturland Zeichen GmbH. “In the ten years that Naturland and REWE are already working together, a partnership has grown that is characterized by reliability and an open and productive exchange of ideas, and this also applies to the joint, active development of sustainability topics such as animal welfare and regionality.” , emphasizes Stienen.
