Tesco has given its self-service kiosk checkouts a happy makeover by changing the message Thank You For Shopping At Tesco, to Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas. The supermarket store began revealing its Christmas plans this week, with all self-service machines echoing the festival greetings.
This is the first year Tesco has included a merry welcome on its tills and the message has been met with a mixed reaction from clients. Bronnie Jack tweeted that when the Tesco self-service kiosk yelled Ho Merry Christmas he was kind of scared for life.
@instone tweeted that he couldn’t express his feeling when the self-checkout machine at wished me a Happy Christmas. Whereas Dave Messham tweeted it was real pleasant to hear Santa Ho Ho Ho surprise from Tesco on the self self-service kiosk.
Shoppers who scan their Club card will likewise hear a sleigh bell sound with Santa’s voice until December 27. This is not the first run this year that the grocery store has patched up the voice in its checkouts. In July it presented a “friendlier, more supportive and less talkative” voice which was later eliminated of all self-service machines before the end of October.
A Tesco representative said they have imitated a festive themed message to their in-store self-checkouts to convey some extra cheer to shoppers and wish them an exceptionally Merry Christmas.
