New Netto market at the Vennhauser Allee in Dusseldorf

The first shoppers could not wait on Monday and already rolled their shopping cart in the new Netto supermarket at Vennhauser Allee 212. The goods were still granted, opened the discounter only this Tuesday at 7 am.

A private initiative, from which the citizen forum “Vennhausen lives” emerged, was founded and made itself strong for a market hall concept. That turned out to be unrealizable. And as the negotiations between the landlord and the prospective customer Rewe dragged on, many Vennhauser citizens lost faith in a solution. Then the owner, the Thunnissen property management, suddenly presented Netto as a new tenant, and suddenly everything went very fast.

“We have invested 850,000 euros in the refurbishment, handing over the property turnkey,” explains Marius Overkott, Head of Property Management at Thunnissen.

Netto has coped well with the available 600 square meters of retail space, confirms Sebastian Mauß, responsible for the company’s expansion. “We have 5000 items in our product range, including fresh fish and a large selection of drinks.” The fact that there would not be many parking spaces available at Vennhauser Allee would not be a problem, says Alexandra Schülter, Regional Manager for Expansion.
