New Coop supermarket to open in Hilvarenbeek, Netherlands

New Coop supermarket will open in Hilvarenbeek, a town in the south of the Netherlands, along the border with Belgium on March 21. The supermarket is in the building of the former C1000 at the Apollo Street. The store will open its doors on March 21 at 18.00 with a festive opening. In the first eight weeks there will be different offers for the customers, the company said in its statement. In addition to this, the opening week will have little surprises for visitors such as a balloon clown for children.

The grocery store is open Monday to Saturday from 08.00 to 20.00. On Sundays open the shop from 12:00 to 17:00. Coop in January announced that it would open a store in the spring of 2016 in Hilvarenbeek.  Since C1000 at the Apollo Street closed its doors in early 2013, there was no other supermarket in Hilvarenbeek North. The store moved as Jumbo to Hilverhof.

As an explanation of the figures, Herco Boer van, the financial director of Coop said that the company this year will open at least six new branches. Especially with the addition of new stores Coop posted sales growth in recent years. Earlier this week the company announced that cooperative supermarket sales increased by 7.5 percent in 2015 to € 1,083 billion. This increase is inclusive week 53 in 2015.
