Morrisons store in Wigan confirmed for closure

Along with three others in England, Morrisons is closing its supermarket in Ince , After a 45-day consultation process with staff to determine when the store on Makerfield Way will close and how to minimise job losses.

The Ince branch is the only store in the North West to close. The others are in Crawley in West Sussex, Shirley in Solihull, and Regents Circus in Swindon town centre. And it’s set to put 400 jobs at risk .

“As we continue to focus on building a broader, stronger Morrisons we are constantly reviewing opportunities for new stores and the performance of our existing estate. We are planning to invest in four new stores this year and are today, regrettably, proposing to close our Ince store ” said a spokesperson for Morrisons .
