In a surprising move, Amazon india has announced that mobile phones fulfilled by Amazon are not eligible for refund. The change in the return policy was updated through its India website on February 7th. According to the new rules, shoppers who purchase mobile phone from Amazon would not be in the capacity to return the phones unless the item is defective, damaged or missing. The statement on the company website reads, “All mobile phones that are fulfilled by Amazon, purchased on or after 7th February 2016, will have a replacement only policy. Mobile phone items that are fulfilled by Amazon will no longer be eligible for refunds,”
Those who got a defective or damaged piece can have their mobile phone replaced free of cost within 10 days of buying. Amazon states that “In case you have received a defective or a damaged mobile phone that is fulfilled by Amazon, you will be eligible for a free replacement.”
While its competitors Flipkart and Snapdeal are providing more easiness in their return policies, Amazon has tightened it, which according to many industry experts could cause major setback in its sales volumes. Starting October 2015 Flipkart has a full refund return policy through which one can avail 100 percent discount if they were not satisfied with the mobile phone received, and when returned within 10 days. Another rival Snapdeal also has a return policy, only applicable if the product is in the wrong colour, size, varies from description, is damaged or has missing parts or accessories and returned within seven days.
