This German supermarket chain has devised a formula to promote healthy eating among children. “We’re constantly looking for new ways to make shopping more fun and attractive for kids,” says Lidl’s commercial director in the UK, Ryan McDonnell.
To do this, The supermarket chain has installed shopping trolleys specially designed for the little ones, the Fun Size Trolleys. The mini carts are decorated with a flag and do not need the introduction of a coin to be used.
Now the initiative, tested in some stores in the United Kingdom, has been extended to 250 more establishments in the chain with the aim of “helping parents in the task of making their children understand what they eat, and we hope that our new carts Fun Size Trolleys encourage them to play a more important role in family shopping, “adds McDonnell. Lidl joins the movement that other supermarkets such as Morrisons or Sainsbury’s, have already started.
