The supermarket chain Mercadona has denied that it is sending its customers SMS messages with a link to a supposed “Mercadona account” with “large amount of money ready to be withdrawn”, as verified by ‘Maldito Bulo’.

The company itself has confirmed that it is a fraud that is supplanting the chain, using its brand image without authorization to obtain the users’ banking data.

Mercadona has retweeted the denial published by ‘Maldita.es’ and has responded to users who have received the false message. “In Mercadona we do not organize any type of promotion and / or raffle, nor give away purchase vouchers”, they clarify, “our brand and image are being used without our authorization”.
