Mercadona loses the first battle in Portugal

Mercadona already has four supermarkets in Portugal. However, the Valencian chain has lost the first battle in terms of price compared to its most direct rivals in the Portuguese market, as evidenced by a study by the Portuguese consumer association Deco Proteste.

The report analyzes the prices of the first two establishments opened by Mercadona in Portugal, located in Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos, as well as about twenty points of sale located within a 15-kilometer radius of these stores, corresponding to Aldi chains , Continent, El Corte Inglés, Froiz, Intermarché, Jumbo, Lidl, Minipreço and Pingo Doce.

in the case of the supermarket of the Spanish chain in Matosinhos, it occupies the ninth position, with an index of 108. The leader is again Jumbo, thanks to its store located in the Mar Shopping mall, which has an index of 100, followed of two points of sale of Pingo Doce (101) and Lidl (102).
