Melissa Devore Joins Amici Cellars as Executive Vice President

Amici Cellars is pleased to welcome Melissa Devore as Executive Vice President, a newly created role. Devore’s extensive experience—including strategic leadership, sales, supplier relationships, project management, process improvement and customer service—is just the fit for this moment in Amici’s evolution.

Amici Cellars is a winery that is, at heart, a story of friendship: Amici’s owners—John Harris and Bob Shepard—are great friends who, in the 1990s, started out making a few barrels of wine to enjoy together.  Bob Shepard notes, “Over the years, we’ve evolved from an organic approach to growth to a strategic growth trajectory. Now with Melissa on board, we are ready to take the brand to the next level.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining Amici,” says Devore. “I was impressed with how committed they are to quality in the bottle. That is first and foremost to them and it shows throughout the portfolio, from the $15 wine to the $125 single-vineyard wines. I’ve worked with a lot of producers and uniform quality at that range is rare.”

Devore comes to Amici following 11 years with Total Wine & More, where she spent the past six as Vice President of Wine Buying; she also created the company’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. Prior to that, she worked for Verizon Communications and Accenture. Devore obtained her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and in 2006 earned an MBA in Marketing and International Business at The George Washington University. She is also WSET Intermediate Level III Certified.

“We know Melissa shares our same goals and values and we are delighted to welcome her to our team,” says John Harris. Devore agrees. “Amici’s fundamentals and principles are a great fit for me. I knew this was a company I could be proud to work for.”
