In its commitment to be the partner of the sector, Makro has helped to date 12,000 bars and restaurants throughout Spain to manage their online presence, thanks to its Digitization of Hospitality project.

The company has created, completely free of charge, the web pages and the online booking tools of these hospitality businesses, driving them towards the digital reality so that they can adapt to the new market and consumer trends.

The Digitization of Hospitality project is part of an international initiative that Metro AG – matrix of Makro – launched in early 2018 with the aim of responding to the demands of the sector and leading the digital transformation of the hospitality business. In this sense, the initiative also aims to create a digital community for the sector that, in addition to the proposal of technological solutions, offers value-added services, such as the exchange of experiences and continuous updating. Thus, Metro AG, which has a presence in 25 countries, has already developed more than 123,000 different digital solutions for bars and restaurants around the world.

Within the framework of this initiative, Makro envisages supporting the sector in two ways: through external companies that offer all kinds of digital solutions and, on the other hand, through their own solutions. To do this, the company will soon launch a digital platform that includes tools, advice and support in digital transformation issues. In the words of Jaime Guitart, responsible for the project of Digitization of Hospitality “In Makro we want to elevate the digitization of the hospitality industry at the same level as other sectors such as travel”.
