ELCHE. The German supermarket chain Lidl will open its second store in the city. After the one located in the detour zone, next to the Barrachina bridge, the City Council has granted him a demolition license to shoot down a ship located on Avenida de Alicante number 118 in March. In this place will be where the new supermarket, which also has a license to build a parking lot.
On paper, in April the construction works will begin, which are expected to finish in about eight months, so the new supermarket could open its doors by the end of this year or early 2020 at the latest. Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG, better known by its trademark Lidl, is a discount supermarket chain of German origin. It operates in more than 10,000 stores in 29 countries and is part of the Schwarz group, one of the largest distribution conglomerates in Europe.
In addition to those economic prices and other brands that characterize the brand, it also highlights its commitment to the environment. Last year joined, as they have done other establishments, the initiative to use paper bags instead of plastic, which are charged, as in the current and at the moment the only supermarket in Elche with which the German company has.
