The new store will be creating 40 new jobs in multi-million pound investment according to Lidl Boss. And it will include an in-store bakery, customer toilets and 140 car parking spaces. The store itself is planned to be 1,957sqm – or roughly a third the size of a football pitch.
According to Shoebury ward councillor Steven Wakefield , the plans have been a contentious issue since they were revealed. And he said “Infrastructure is one of the biggest concerns as it will create a lot of additional traffic down Campfield Road. There’s also a feeling that it isn’t needed – I believe we’ve got plenty of shops in the area. Competition is good, but we’ve got enough.”
