The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is to start huge scale production of nutritious fresh Milk to generate more income for its activities. By the center of the year, the university planned to produce about 1500 liters of fresh yoghurt daily for the local market. The Vice Chancellor of the university Professor William Otoo Ellis, said that it had already secured partnership deal with the Peak Investment Capital Limited (PIC) for this.

Speaking at the inaugural event of a seven member board of directors of University Diary Company limited in Kumasi, Prof Ellis said that the university had taken steps to strengthen its Diary and cattle Research Centre – grow new innovations in the dairy generation line and turn out with items that met worldwide principles regarding taste, bundling, quality and sturdiness. Diry products from the university are bow restricted to students on the university and people within its environs.

The Vice Chancellor said given the required push, there could be probably it could make critical infiltration into the international business sector. New yogurt created by the inside has been recognized for its quality and now with its joint effort with PIC it could turn into a noteworthy player on both the nearby and worldwide markets.

Mr. Kobbina Awuah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PIC, said that the Company was developing two “lead stores” on the college grounds to serve as major sales point to distribute appropriate dairy items in the Ashanti Region.  The project would be completed in March, this year he added.

Mr. Awuah said the choice to accomplice the KNUST to support milk creation was affected by the fact that it already had the technical knowledge and essential structures. The introduction of the Board goes ahead the heels of a joint-venture contract signed between the two. The board is expected to announce its Chairman soon.
