The final touches are being made to the new 24 hour Kmart Reservoir store which is set to open on Wednesday 11 March in the brand new Summerhill shopping centre.

More than 200 team members, most of who are employed from the local community, are busily stocking shelves with the 50,000 Kmart product lines across all Kmart categories including apparel for men, women and children, toys, health and beauty, homewares, stationery and sporting goods.

Experienced Kmart store manager Michael Baker is leading the team at Reservoir and is looking forward to the opening. Michael has been with Kmart for 23 years, and has managed many stores during his time. This is the second 24 hour Kmart that Michael has led – a challenge which he is looking forward to tackling again.
“It’s very exciting to be opening a brand new 24 hour Kmart in the area, and offer locals a new and convenient shopping experience with everyday low prices.”
“My dedicated team and I are counting down the days until opening and can’t wait to meet the customers. Many team members are students from the university nearby; it’s great to have such a flexible and hardworking group of individuals to help make 24 hour operating a success.”

“Our team members possess great values and demonstrate great behaviours, which was something I looked for during the recruitment process. Most importantly though, they are people who really love customers and will give service with a smile,” said Michael.

The new Kmart store will feature its new design and layout with three colourful worlds including kids, home and clothing, each with innovative layouts to make it easier for customers to find products. Customers will see products grouped together in these specific areas to make their shopping experiences as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Self-serve and central checkouts, and a combined service counter with layby and photo processing, will provide customers with a convenient way to access these areas.

Les Smith, Director of Summerhill Shopping Centre says, “The developer, Summerhill Shopping Centre Pty Ltd, is extremely proud of the Centre and couldn’t be happier with the store that Kmart has delivered. The confidence Kmart have shown in the Centre by delivering such a state of the art store, that will open 24 hours, underpins our belief that the Summerhill Shopping Centre will provide a shopping experience that sets new standards for the local community.”

According to store manager Michael, Kmart Reservoir is set to be a “one-stop-shop” where convenience is front of mind.

On Kmart Reservoir’s opening day there will be an official ribbon cutting at 8am with cupcakes, balloons, entertainment and giveaways throughout the day.  Michael encourages families to come down early to be part of the fun one of the first customers to receive a Kmart gift card.
