After deliveries of New Zealand fruit complete, single desk kiwifruit marketer Zespri is reporting record sales in key Asian markets over the 2015 season. Sales programs into Japan and China are setting new benchmarks, with SunGold send out practically tripling more than 2015.
Zespri CEO Lain Jager said the company is bringing in on aggregate sales to a close of almost 21m trays in Japan – a record result for that market. Sales in China additionally hit a record high of more than 18m trays, up from 11.4m trays the past season. Jager said the 2015 season saw a record produce of extensive green organic product. The estimate producer return for green is NZ$4.87 per tray with volumes ticking more than 80m tray, up 16 percent than last season.
Total gold volumes out of New Zealand were around 33m trays; with Zespri SunGold volumes expanding about three times from 10.6m trays last season to 27.5m tray in 2015.
