In view of the ongoing collective bargaining round in the trade, the union ver.di expands the strikes in several federal states on today’s Friday and tomorrow’s Saturday. A focus of the industrial action is this time on Kaufland, it is said by the union. Among other things, employees of the Kaufland branch in Gummersbach-Dieringhausen participate in the labor dispute.
The company says that customers can still make their purchases there as usual. In a total of around 165 Kaufland branches, more than 2,000 employees would quit work and come together at three central strike meetings, including in Dortmund, ver.di.
Among other things, ver.di demands 6.5 percent more wages for the retail trade, but at least € 163 or one more euro per hour. “Employers have so far offered only real wage losses,” criticized Orhan Akman, ver.di-Bundesfachgruppenleiter for retail.
Kaufland writes in a press release: “The implementation of strike action is a legitimate way for workers to express their demands. Of course, we respect the participation of our employees in strikes. Kaufland would like to see the collective bargaining parties agree on a deal soon enough. “
