Kaufland invests more than 15 million euros in Kaufbeuren

A new Kaufland is being built on the former premises of the Mercedes dealership Allgäu of the Kreuter family. Now the groundbreaking ceremony took place. Even though it is still winter, the construction site is set to move forward quickly. The company is investing more than 15 million euros in the new building with a total sales area of 4,000 square meters. Kaufland project manager Marin Masnic said the plans have been completed so far that the new market could open for Christmas 2019.

On 2 March, the old Kaufland is the last time open. None of the approximately 70 employees will be fired, Masnic assured. In the new Kaufland there are at least as many jobs, probably more would be added. The construction works as general contractor, the company Glass from Mindelheim. Kaufland itself occupies 3,600 square meters of retail space, with 400 square meters being subleased.
