Katsuya, the internationally acclaimed culinary concept from sbe’s Disruptive Restaurant Group, expands its worldwide portfolio, unveiling two new highly anticipated Middle Eastern openings at Villaggio Mall in Doha, Qatar and The Avenues in Manama, Bahrain this month. These new additions bring Katsuya’s global footprint to 12, joining longstanding locations including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, South Beach, Dubai, Kuwait City, and The Bahamas. Providing a modern take on Japanese classics as envisioned by Master Chef Katsuya Uechi, and widely acknowledged for its sleek design from iconic visionary Philippe Starck, Katsuya delivers an original experience, exemplifying and adding to the Middle East’s vibrant and unrivaled dining scene. In addition to these openings, the brand is rapidly growing, with plans to open 15 more Katsuyas by 2020.

Speaking to Katsuya’s ongoing growth, Daniel del Olmo, the recently appointed CEO of Disruptive Restaurant Group, a subsidiary of sbe, states, “Following the incredible success of Katsuya’s openings in Kuwait City and Dubai, we’re excited to continue to grow our footprint in the Middle East with our strong partner M.H. Alshaya Co. We’re also excited to be part of two of the largest and most desirable luxury retail locations in the world, and look forward to becoming a destination for both locals and visitors.”

“We at Alshaya continue to be excited about our partnership growth with sbe throughout the Middle East. These are two fantastic opportunities in Villaggio Qatar and Avenues Bahrain that will continue to showcase the iconic Katsuya brand in the region,” said Jim Dunn, Vice President of Casual Dining at Alshaya.

Marrying master Chef Katsuya Uechi’s fresh and innovative takes on Japanese classics with a bold design from Philippe Starck, Katsuya delivers a one of a kind dining experience, with a menu of more than 100 selections. Guests can enjoy specialty and traditional sushi rolls, sashimi platters, robata grills, and more. Chef Uechi’s signature dishes include Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño, Seared Tuna with Japanese Salsa, Baked Crab Hand Rolls, Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, Wahoo Sashimi with Crispy Onion, Katsuya Ceviche, Salmon Sashimi with Caviar, and Japanese Octopus Carpaccio.

Starck’s minimalist yet bold, simple yet graphic design creates a comfortable and sophisticated atmosphere with intriguing, beautiful details, suitable for an array of dining experiences. All in, Katsuya is a culinary journey through the senses of sight, sound, smell, and taste.
