John Lewis has ‘no plans’ to close the haberdashery department

Following recent speculation, John Lewis announced that they have no, nor have ever had, plans to close or downgrade the haberdashery departments.  In the last five weeks, the high end retailer had opened new shops in Chelmsford and Leeds with already popular haberdashery departments, both of which include a meeting area for local crafting groups.

John Lewis stated in a press release that it would like to reassure the customers that haberdashery is woven into the fabric of our business and remains at the heart of John Lewis.

The rumours of the haberdashery’s demise began after it was reported that John Lewis’ new managing director, Paula Nickolds, would be cutting back the department.
