Ireland’s Finest Hits UK Supermarkets

Ireland’s finest fare is about to make its mark on supermarket shelves as two of the country’s most renowned products announce a launch in Tesco and Waitrose nationwide.

Clonakilty, renowned in Ireland for their traditional fare will finally see its famous Clonakilty Blackpudding launch in 340 Tesco stores across the UK.  Joining them in this success is another of Ireland’s finest producers, Glenilen Farm, whose Handmade Yoghurt Pots will go into Waitrose stores nationwide.

Clonakilty Blackpudding grew from the tradition of making blackpudding amongst small farmhouses in rural Ireland to be sold to butchers in nearby market towns along with eggs, butter and other farm produce. To this day the recipe for Clonakilty Blackpudding remains the same as Johanna O’Brien’s recipe back in the 1800’s.

Based in West Cork, Alan and Valerie Kingston established the Glenilen Farm brand in 1997 on the same dairy farm that Alan’s family had been running for generations.  The milk (the main ingredient in all their products) is sourced from Glenilen and neighbouring farms, and their products are made using only the best quality ingredients, reflecting their steadfast belief in the goodness of wholesome, natural food.

Both products use locally farmed ingredients to create an exceptional taste. Though they have previously been enjoyed by shoppers in independent stores and luxury food halls this is the first time both products will be easily accessible in supermarket stores across the UK.
