Interview Djazagro 2016. Christophe Painvin, show director talks to ISN


1-Oil prices are going down, How is this affecting Djazagro,  and the international interest in the Algerian food market?

The decline in oil prices has alerted the Algerian government that it should reduce the volume of food imports. The Algeria must value products from its agriculture and transform them if it wants to achieve food self-sufficiency. Djazagro since its beginning has participated in the development of the food industry in Algeria and proposing a comprehensive offer we allows investors to find partners to develop the Algerian production capacity.
More than ever Algerian industry needs equipment if it wants to be efficient and the Algerian government investment programs are going in this direction .

2-How are  the other Maghreb countries reacting to Djazagro?

Djazagro is recognized as the crossroads of food industries in Algeria but we must go further. For the 2016 edition Djazagro strategy is to radiate beyond the borders of Algeria and organize incoming delegations of buyers from the Maghreb countries but also countries in Sub -Saharan Africa.
There is no other exhibition in the Maghreb which offers a wider offer and Djazagro can become a reference for this geographical area expanding.

3-Djazagro 2016,  What is new in the 2016 exhibition? are they any events inside the exhibition?

Each year Djazagro innovates and this year several new features are offered to visitors:
• A new scale : The exhibition expands in a 4th hall of the SAFEX exhibition park in order to give a prominent place to the catering sector. The latter will stand out from the bakery-pastry sector, to fully exist.

• The DJAZAIR EXCELLENCE : For the first time in Algeria, attend Djazaïr Excellence, competition for food artisans. A dedicated space spanning 450 sqm, professional participants from a wide range of sectors, teams of young people learning their art, gender mix, a prestigious judging panel made up of Algerian and foreign professionals, an accomplished organising team and local partners prepared to support a promising adventure.

• Conference regarding Exportations: In partnership with ALGEX DJAZGARO organizes a conference on exporting to provide Algerians with the keys to a successful export.

4-  Can you profile the exhibitors, countries, products and what are they looking to achieve at this event?

From 31 countries, exhibitors participate in Djazagro to apprehend a growing market . 9 out of 10 exhibitors consider Algeria as a developing market for their company in the next 5 years . Whether to meet new customers or strengthen their presence in Algeria DJAZAGRO is always quoted as the only event capable of federating all an industry and enable its exhibitors to develop their market.
