Hundreds queued up at the opening of Clitheroe’s new Aldi store

ALDIMore than 300 people lined up to be in with a possibility of winning an entire host of prizes being offered at the opening of Clitheroe’s new Aldi general store. Hordes of people lined the length of the new grocery store’s car park, which was full to limit with cars from the early hours. There was a flood of cars stopped on neighboring boulevards.

To commend the opening of the new Aldi store, which was authoritatively opened with a strip cutting function at8 am, the bargain supermarket passed out golden envelopes, each containing a prize, to the initial 100 individuals in the line. Aldi’s Golden Ticket promotion offered clients the opportunity to win a 32-inch HD TV, £100 hampers, £50 hampers and packs of Aldi shopping.

Store manager Gareth Hulse said the enthusiasm for the new Whalley Road market had been foreseen. “At first I would say the line was around 300 individuals in length as we came up short on our one hundred brilliant tickets 33% of the route down the line,” clarified Gareth, who has worked for Aldi for a long time and at its Accrington store for as far back as four and a half years.

“The first person landed at 4-30 am in the morning,” Gareth said. “We knew the store would prove well-liked from the statistical surveying that we had led in advance.”
