After the series of closures that touched 42 stores of Homebase, and after the measurable rates that were given to the retailer. A new closure came to an unexpected store this time.
The concerned store with the closer this time is Homebase branch in Queen’s Drive, Nottingham, which is meant to be closed this December.
The closure has been confirmed by the company and the last day of trading is scheduled for Friday, December 14. Many jobs are facing the risk to be lost with this decision.
According to the local press, Chris Hobson, director of policy and external affairs at the East Midlands Chamber, said: “We never like to hear of businesses closing and it must be very distressing for the staff working there, especially so close to Christmas, but there is some comfort for them that the East Midlands has a robust economy, which means there are still jobs available and new ones being created across the region.”
The store is the last Homebase in the area. The stated reason for the closure decision according to the retailer is due to the failure to reach an agreement with the landlord.
