Freshtime Raises Thousands at First Charity Golf Day

The first ever charity golf day organised by Boston produce specialists Freshtime raised over £10,000 for its adopted charity, the Ally Cadence Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

The golf day, auction and raffle was staged at Boston West Golf Course and was a spectacular success. A cheque for £10,000 was presented to the charity by Freshtime but the final total is likely to be even higher.

“We can’t put into words how grateful we are to everyone who made this event such a huge success,” said Emma Humphries, who set up the charity with her husband Karl in 2009 after their daughter Ally Cadence died from spinal muscular atrophy aged just six months.

“Since they adopted us in February Freshtime have shown so much passion towards our charity and fund-raising, and to receive such a huge amount will do more than we ever imagined possible.

“So many families will benefit from this money and it really will make a huge difference to their lives.”

Mark Newton, Managing Director of Freshtime, added: “The entire Freshtime team has really taken the charity to its heart and we are all absolutely delighted that the day raised so much and will make such a difference.

“I’m extremely proud of the team that put the day together, worked tirelessly to make it such a success and came to play or support. I would also like to thank our fantastic suppliers and friends who put forward a team or sent such great prizes for the raffle and auction.”

Seventy golfers took part and the winning team was from Hammond Produce from Nottinghamshire.
