First Emart supermarket inaugurated in Vietnam


O5YvjCdyThe South Korean supermarket giant, Shinsegae, is now officially present on the Vietnamese market after its first store was inauguration in Ho Chi Minh City, at 366 Phan Van Tri Street, Go Vap District. With a total investment of 60 million, Emart situates in 6,000 m² with thousands of products including more than 95%  Vietnamese and Korean products.
Shinsegae is a leading distributor in the Republic of Korea with over 160 supermarkets and shopping centers in many different countries. Emart achieved a total turnover of more than $ 13.2 billion in 2014. In 2006, Shinsegae acquired the stores from Walmart in Korea.
According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, modern stores represent 25% of the retail market in Vietnam. In Vietnam there are a total of 724 132 supermarkets and shopping malls. Statista expects to grow its total turnover in the years to come.
