EROSKI and its customers have donated more than 6,450 tons of food for the most disadvantaged groups during 2018. The figure is equivalent to the consumption of food by 4,089 families throughout the year. Of this donation, more than 4,928 tons have been donated by EROSKI within the “Zero Waste” program, which guarantees that no food suitable for consumption is discarded in the EROSKI stores, but donated to social organizations in the vicinity of each store .

“From EROSKI we believe it is fundamental to contribute together to achieve a more just and cohesive society, one of our priority objectives of our Commitments in Health and Sustainability. We have been pioneers in our sector in Spain in achieving zero waste throughout our network of supermarkets and once again our collaboration with the Food Banks is an excellent opportunity to materialize this commitment, “said the director of Health and Sustainability of EROSKI, Alejandro Martínez Berriochoa.

EROSKI collaborates with FESBAL (Spanish Federation of Food Banks) to develop the “Zero waste” program. “For Food Banks it is essential the collaboration of companies like EROSKI, which lend their help in special campaigns such as the Great Collection and throughout the year through the donation program” Zero waste “.
