Dutch supermarkets expects a € 776 million Easter sales this year. That would then mean a sales increase of 1.5 percent compared to the previous year. According to a report released by the market researcher GfK, luxurious brands would outsell private labels in the supermarkets during the period. Gourmet Dishes and foreign cheeses are expected to be less popular this year. This is in contrast to baking products and beef. The top 15 most popular products expected to be sold are Easter bread, crackers, desserts, baked bread and trays, for example, Russian salad.
In February, total supermarket sales increased by 1.8 percent to nearly € 2.6 billion. That was the result of a higher frequency of store visits. The number of issued receipts to rise by more than 2%, but the amount spent per bill decreased by 0.4% to EUR22,09.GfK’s researchers expect this year in supermarkets a 1.5% increase Easter turnover of EUR776 million.
