Carrefour Italia offers 350,000 euros to families


Carrefour Italia has distributed more than 1,700 gift cards to families in need in the Peninsula with the aim of supporting them to adopt a proper food education.

For more than 18 years alongside the Food Bank and since always working through solidarity initiatives, Carrefour Italia has distributed a symbolic check of 352,445 euros to the Fondazione Banco Alimentare. An amount that will allow the latter to offer 1,761 gift cards to 350 families across the country. Each family identified by the regional branches of the Food Bank and partner charities, will be able to benefit from 5 gift cards for a period of one year, to be used in Carrefour points of sale and for the purchase of basic necessities.

The initiative is part of Carrefour Italia’s Transition Alimentaire strategic plan, to respond positively to the primary needs of families but also to guarantee them an adequate nutritional contribution through a responsible food education. Also, the Robin Foood Association, with the advice of professional nutritionists, will involve families in food education programs, studied on the basis of each of their requirements.

Since the last collaboration between Carrefour Italia and the Food Bank, 438,890 kilos of food have been harvested and distributed in more than 8,000 charitable structures to reach more than 1,500,000 people in need in Italy.
