Bordeaux ranked top in the Lonely Planet travel list

And the winner is … Bordeaux! The Sleeping Beauty has been ranked as the best vacation spot in the Lonely Planet guides annual guide. The jury of Lonely Planet guides, which publishes a rundown of the best tourist spots across the globe, placed the French city ahead of Los Angeles and Cape Town.

“They used to call her the ‘Sleeping Beauty’, but – though she’s hit the snooze button a few times – Bordeaux is now wide awake and ready for action,” said Lonely planet jury member and travel writer Jean-Bernard Carillet. Thanks to the new TGV line between Paris and Bordeaux expected in mid-2017, the city would be just two hours away from Paris. With the opening of Cité du Vin wine museum the city boasted itself to be a “gastronomic revolution” for the tourist.

Here is the list of all top ten destinations for 2017 suggested by Lonely planet.

  1. Bordeaux, France
  2. Cape Town, South Africa
  3. Los Angeles, US
  4. Merida, Mexico
  5. Ohrid, Macedonia
  6. Pistoia, Italy
  7. Seoul, South Korea
  8. Lisbon, Portugal
  9. Moscow, Russia
  10. Portland, Oregon
