The giant French-based supermarket Auchan has released its new food trucking option for its customers in France after the successful trails in Vietnam to allow consumers see the production of their organic items from the “farm to the fork”.

Auchan (according to thenextweb) said the service is now ready to be applied in France, where customers can use the service by only downloading a smartphone application and scan the item’s QR-codes to see the whole process of production.

The initiative was first applied by the retailer with the coordination with Ho Chi Minh City, where Auchan said that 18,000 pigs, 200,000 chickens, and 2.5 million eggs were tracked through the Auchan Retail Vietnam trials.

For now, the initiative is only available on organic carrots, the chain is expecting more items (including potatoes and chicken) to be available by February.
