Aldi launches healthier British lamb mince

With many thousands of people slimming down in preparation for the start of the ‘party season’, discount supermarket Aldi, will be delighting super slimmer’s across the country by launching a Reduced Fat, 100% British Lamb Mince.

Aldi’s new 10% fat mince, half the fat of standard mince, will be in stores as a Specialbuy from 24th November, while stocks last. In a study carried out by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB)[1], it was revealed that opinions around lamb have improved throughout the past year, with more consumers thinking it is a flavoursome and versatile ingredient to use in a variety of dishes – and now healthy, too!

With the majority of lamb mince available in supermarkets containing 20% fat, the new Specialbuy will be aimed at customers looking to purchase a lighter meat without compromising on taste or quality. Aldi’s new 10% fat mince is produced from traditional cuts of lamb which are prepared by butchers using only the leanest parts of the muscle.  Customers will be able to enjoy a 400g pack of British Lamb Mince, a healthy and delicious meat to use when cooking their favourite pastas, pies and burgers, for just £3.29!

Tony Baines, Joint Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi, said: “At Aldi, we are proud to offer customers the finest quality products at everyday low prices. The introduction of the Reduced Fat British Lamb Mince continues this commitment, as well as our dedication to supporting UK farms through the sourcing of British produce.

“Following the improved perceptions of lamb and through launching Aldi’s Reduced Fat Lamb Mince, we aim to offer our customers a healthy and delicious option using high quality, excellent value, British meat.” Aldi’s November Specialbuy Reduced Fat British Lamb Mince is available in stores across the UK from 24th November while stocks last.
