Aldi has taken home The Grocer of the Year trophy at The Grocer Gold Awards 2016 – marking the supermarket’s fourth triumph in the category since 2009.

The supermarket received The Grocer of the Year award in recognition for its longstanding commitment to delivering award-winning products at unbeatable prices, and excellent customer service.

Aldi was presented with the trophy at last night’s prestigious The Grocer Gold Awards ceremony at Guildhall, London; beating competition from Lidl and Ocado.

The announcement comes as Aldi continues to prove popular with shoppers, holding an all-time record market share of 6% (Kantar Worldpanel data 22/05/16).

Aldi claimed a total of 2 awards at this year’s ceremony, and was also awarded Own Label Range of the Year for its parenting and baby range Mamia.

The win follows Aldi’s success at the Grocer Own Label Awards in May, where it took home 40 trophies; picking up 19 Gold Awards and 21 Silver Awards to become the most awarded retailer. This is testament to the high quality demonstrated by Aldi’s exclusive brand products.
