Aldi accelerates its expansion in Spain. The distribution group of German origin has increased its number of stores in the national market by 20% since 2017, with 50 net openings that have increased its commercial network to a total of 304 establishments. The result of all these actions is that one-third of the network of Aldi establishments in Spain, 97 of 304 stores, are less than three years old or have been renewed in this period of time. In addition, this strategy has greatly increased the commercial area of the group. The company has gone from 271,589 square meters in the national market in 2017 to 308,270 square meters in 2018 and has already exceeded 323,000 so far this year.
In addition, the group is improving the efficiency of its premises: 42 stores and four logistics platforms of Aldi already use photovoltaic panels that provide much of the energy consumed by these centres, while another 70 establishments have a home automation control to improve their air conditioning.
