Eroski has won the Naos Award for the best business initiative for its Ekilibria program. These awards are promoted by the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan), an autonomous body attached to the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare through the General Secretariat of Health and Consumption.

Specifically, the program uses new information technologies to offer a personalized nutritional diagnosis based on the purchasing habits of Eroski’s client partners. It also has a nutritional calculator to know the body mass index, total energy expenditure and other indicators that allow a more complete assessment of the nutritional status of the consumer.

Through this evaluation allows consumers to improve the composition of their shopping cart to achieve a more balanced combination of products, based on their nutritional needs. The program provides a personalized monthly report where you can know the balance of your purchase between the different food groups and the adequacy of calories and other nutrients to your needs. In addition, it allows to see the improvement over time, since evolution can be seen in the last twelve months.

In addition, the initiative brings together a broad base of healthy recipes and a nutritional clinic with tips and answers from the company’s nutrition team. “The contribution to a healthy lifestyle is integrated into the day to day of our company since its inception and occupies a very important position in our priorities. This new recognition confirms us in the value of our contribution and continuous commitment to improve the health of consumers and encourages us to continue working, “says the director of Health and Sustainability of Eroski, Alejandro Martínez Berriochoa.
