The Public Health Agency of Canada has announced recently with the collaboration of provincial public health partners that they have been investigating outbreak of E. coli infections in Ontario. The Investigation showed that romaine lettuce grown in Canada, including hydroponic romaine lettuce and romaine lettuce grown in green-houses, is not associated with this outbreak.

With the aid of the United States Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA),
The Public Health Agency of Canada to investigate an outbreak of E. coli infections in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and several U.S. states.

The investigation has stated that the contaminated romaine lettuce consumed by the majority of the outbreak cases was harvested in California. which means that the Canadian harvested romaine lettuce is safe to consume.
