TURKEY SET TO ‘FLY’ OFF THE SHELF THIS CHRISTMAS
Today Aldi has announced that it is set to sell 200% more turkeys this Christmas as it offers customers a 40% saving on their festive bird.
Providing more bird for the buck, this limited edition turkey goes on sale for £35.99 on Wednesday 19th December, allowing customers to get their turkey for a snippet of other retailer’s prices. The news comes as many retailers are set to increase the cost of their turkeys by 10%, due to record rises in the price of wheat and soya and the dramatic price increase of animal feed.
Nicknamed the Roly Poly, the 100% British, Free Range Bronze Turkey pure breed has been reared exclusively for Aldi. Grown in Norfolk, with GM free feed and then matured and finished on oats, to bring out the best flavours and the most succulent meat, it’s a mouth-watering turkey with a price tag to match.
An Aldi spokesperson commented:
“This year’s turkey has been named Roly Poly because it’s the fullest figured bird we’ve ever had and we’re confident in its quality. The turkeys have been reared in their own exclusive Aldi pop up turkey villages, where the conditions are first class – a natural woodland environment with huge open space for them to roam. Our Roly Poly turkeys have also been finished on feed enriched with oats that will enhance the quality of the turkey, making them tastier – we’re proud to be the only supermarket finishing our turkeys on oats.”
As more families come together to share the most important meal of the year, treat your family to a superb quality Christmas dinner.
